How Do I Maintain My Weight Loss? This is a question that many dieters have after reaching their desired weight.
There are many answers to this question. Some say to stick to the diet that helped you lose the weight.
Others say to not go back to the unhealthy foods you were eating before the diet – the foods that caused you to gain the weight.
My recommendation is to change your lifestyle. Try to eat healthy foods instead of the unhealthy foods you were eating before. But that doesn’t mean to give up completely the high calorie foods that you really enjoy. It just means to eat them in moderation.
But you must understand that you can probably never go back to the unhealthy lifestyle you were living before your diet. Just make a conscious effort to eat more healthy foods.
Monitor your weight, probably on a weekly basis. Be aware of the eating habits that helped you lose weight. If limiting sugar and desserts helped you lose weight, then stick to that routine. If you don’t, you will not maintain the weight level you want.
Another factor in maintaining weight after weight loss is exercise. Exercise is very important in your losing weight in the first place.
If you had not exercised much before, you should have started out slow and built up the exercise intensity over time. But just because your strict diet plan is over, doesn’t mean that you can stop exercising.
Instead, you should continue at the exercise level you were on in your diet program and increase the intensity as much as you can.
So you may be asking the question, “How do I maintain my weight loss?” What better person to ask than Valerie Bertinelli. We all know who she is. She has been in the entertainment industry for many years. This beautiful woman gained weight over the last few years. Now that she has lost the weight, it’s critical to her health and career that she keep the weight off.
I read an article that discusses maintaining weight after weight loss. It’s called “Valerie Bertinelli: How She Keeps Off the 40 Lbs.” It’s written by Alison Schwartz. It is a somewhat older article so you may have already read it.
Here is a short quote:
Valerie Bertinelli didn’t skimp on trips to the gym when she was trying to lose weight. And now that she’s 40 lbs. lighter, not much has changed.
“I mix treadmill running with exercises like push-ups, walking lunges, crunches,” she tells Prevention magazine in its September issue of her exercise routine.
The Jenny Craig spokeswoman, 51, who displayed her bikini bod on the cover of PEOPLE in March 2009, gets a little help when she hits the gym – from personal trainer, Christopher Ross.
Bertinelli says those looking to lose the pounds should consider digging into their pockets – at least for a little while – to hire a trainer.
“It’s a really good investment,” she says. “Health clubs all across the country have them, and you don’t need one for any longer than one or two weeks. Get some good stuff. Write it down. Then do it on your own.”
Here is the complete article. Ms. Bertinelli continues a consistent exercise program to keep her weight under control. She also makes healthy eating choices. When she goes out to eat, she plans ahead to make sure she maintains her weight.
