How Many Calories are in Apple Juice? I checked a few labels and found that on average, one cup of apple juice contains approximately 120 calories. A medium raw apple contains around 1/3 of those calories.
Apple juice has negligible fiber. A raw apple has 3 grams of fiber.
Apple juice must be fortified with vitamins in order for it to be healthy. A raw apple contains natural vitamins and minerals. It is one of the most popular fruits, second only to bananas.
The fiber in a raw apple slows the release of the natural sugar so that the blood sugar is stabilized. An apple tends to suppress your appetite. Apple juice is fairly high in sugar content.
The bottom line is that apple juice has more calories than a raw apple which may lead to weight gain. It contains natural vitamins. Vitamins must be added to apple juice. Apple juice is fairly high in carbohydrates.
I read an article that discusses how many calories are in apple juice. In addition, it mentions the health risk of arsenic in apple juice. The article is called “Apple juice can pose a health risk – from calories” by Marilynn Marchione.
Here is a quote from the article:
It’s true – apple juice can pose a risk to your health. But not necessarily from the trace amounts of arsenic that people are arguing about.
Despite the government’s consideration of new limits on arsenic, nutrition experts say apple juice’s real danger is to waistlines and children’s teeth. Apple juice has few natural nutrients, lots of calories and, in some cases, more sugar than soda has. It trains a child to like very sweet things, displaces better beverages and foods, and adds to the obesity problem, its critics say.
“It’s like sugar water,” said Judith Stern, a nutrition professor at the University of California, Davis, who has consulted for candy makers as well as for Weight Watchers. “I won’t let my 3-year-old grandson drink apple juice.”
Many juices are fortified with vitamins, so they’re not just empty calories. But that doesn’t appease some nutritionists.
“If it wasn’t healthy in the first place, adding vitamins doesn’t make it into a health food,” and if it causes weight gain, it’s not a healthy choice, said Karen Ansel, a registered dietitian in New York and spokeswoman for the American Dietetic Association.
The American Academy of Pediatrics says juice can be part of a healthy diet, but its policy is blunt: “Fruit juice offers no nutritional benefit for infants younger than 6 months” and no benefits over whole fruit for older kids.
Kids under 12 consume 28 percent of all juice and juice drinks, according to the academy. Nationwide, apple juice is second only to orange juice in popularity. Americans slurp 267 ounces of apple juice on average each year, according to the Food Institute’s Almanac of Juice Products and the Juice Products Association, a trade group. Lots more is consumed as an ingredient in juice drinks and various foods.

Ola! Scott Hubbard,
This might be off topic, however, I need to lose 40 pounds in about half a year. I eat healthy but my major problem is I get hungry all the time and I only can walk for 30 minutes a day due to my asthma symptoms. I am currently on symbicourt.
What do I do? How can I lose weight over this period? I want to lose about 1-2 pounds per week.
I have asked my doctor what to do, but he didn’t know and just said to eat less and exercise. The problem is I am hungry all day and I do exercise, but the weight isn’t dropping? Heres what I usually have in a day:
Breakfast:
skim Milk
1 tbsp jam
1/4 cup cottage cheese
1/2 grain bread 150 calories
Lunch:
skim Milk
1/2 chicken breast, dry, without marination or butter of course
1 cup basmati rice plain
1 onion
5 tbsp tomatoes, onions, and cucumbers chopped up with lime juice
Dinner:
Usually the same as breakfast and milk.
Snack:
Milk, banana, apple, some carrots
I usually walk around 4:00 P.M. for roughly 30 minutes a day. I have no thyroid problem but MAY be suffering from depression, adhd, or an anxiety disorder (psychologist)
Keep up the good work
I would think that your business, Fat Burning Furnace, would be a good place to get suggestions. It looks like your eating is not a problem. You don’t seem to be consuming too many calories. The only problem I see is the jam and possibly the banana. All foods should be low glycemic.
Can you exercise more than once a day? Maybe some short exercise periods – 10 minutes or so. Park in the far part of the parking lot. Take a few 5-10 minute walks during the day.
Your hormones may be the problem. If your hormones are out of balance, there is no way you can lose weight. You should have your doctor check those out for you.
